Resolutions Employment Service constantly seeks innovative ways to deliver services to our clients. Recently, Resolutions sent two delegates to the Accessing the Future conference held in Hunter Valley, NSW on 7-9 December 2011. The conference, organised by the NDCO, brings together experts from the education, disability services, and disability employment sectors to share their experiences and ideas on the latest programs, strategies, and technologies for improving learning and employment outcomes for people with a disability. This conference was held in early December. Resolutions Employment Service is excited to apply what was learned to develop programs that deliver even better results for our clients and stakeholders.

Queensland Regional Achievement and Community AwardAward gives service a real boost

(Article written by Stuart Cumming for The Chronicle)

RESOLUTIONS Employment Service manager Kathy Marsh says winning a Queensland Regional Achievement and Community Award is a real boost for her team.

Dedicated staff at the Toowoomba agency have been helping people with a disability from Toowoomba and the surrounding area gain and maintain employment in the open community for 15 years.

They were awarded the Salvation Army Employment Plus Employment and Training Award during a ceremony in Rockhampton on Saturday night.

"We try to get employers and the community to see the ability in disability," Mrs Marsh said.

"About 70 per cent of our clients have mental health issues."

Mrs Marsh said being recognised was wonderful and bringing awareness to the community about the group's work was also important.

"Mental health is such a huge problem in the community and it's growing."

She said she was really happy with the staff she had working for her.

"The people we have here are hugely dedicated to what we do," she said.

"What keeps me in the job is seeing people's lives improve."
